At 3:11 pm Spokane Fire Department units were dispatched to the 2200 block of 48th Ave on the South Hill. Crews arrived to find heavy fire in the garage extending into the residence. Companies initiated an interior attack in conjunction with vertical ventilation and search operations. Fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.
Two adults were transported to area hospital with minor injuries. No injuries reported to firefighters.
Fire is being investigated by SFD investigation unit and is reported to have originated in the garage from an automotive fire and then extended to the residential portion of the structure.
The home suffered significant fire and smoke damage with dollar loss estimated at $700,000.
Efforts were aided by Fire District #8, AMR and Avista.
