Deputy Chief Lance Dahl Awarded 2024 WA State Fire Marshal of the Year

The Spokane Fire Department proudly announces that the Washington State Fire Marshals Association has awarded Deputy Chief of Fire Prevention Lance Dahl the 2024 Washington State Fire Marshal of the Year. This esteemed association, made up of 819 members from 137 fire agencies, presents this annual award to one individual who demonstrates exceptional leadership, mentoring, and adaptability in addressing the evolving challenges of fire prevention and community risk reduction.

Chief Dahl's commitment to public safety has been a cornerstone of our community, and his leadership is now recognized statewide. Under his guidance, our prevention, community risk, plan review, and investigation teams work diligently to create a safer environment for all. His proactive approach to wildfire risk reduction, including the treatment of fuels on both city-owned and private properties, is setting a model for other cities to follow.

Chief Dahl's efforts not only protect residents and businesses but also improve the safety of our first responders during emergency operations. We are honored to have him on our team, working tirelessly to make our community safer for everyone to live, work, and enjoy.
