Hi-Jinx Parade – Car Show – Free Concerts – Fireworks – Beer Garden – Car Show – Vendor Fair
Hillyard Heritage Celebrations and the Hillyard community are celebrating the Hillyard Festival and Hi-Jinx Parade this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 2nd, 3rd, 4th. Three days of family fun and continuous free entertainment begin at noon Friday in Harmon Park, located on Market Street between Decatur and Bismark. This is the epicenter of fun with live entertainment, Bingo, a vendor fair, food, soft drinks, cotton candy, crafts, kids games and much more.
Saturdays' parade events kick-off with a breakfast in Harmon Park, served from 7 to 9 a.m. by the Hillyard Kiwanis. Parade line-up begins at 8:30 a.m., and the parade begins with classic cars at 9:30 a.m., the Fallen Heroes color guard at 9:45 a.m. The traditional Hi-Jinx Parade starts at 10 a.m. This year's parade theme is, “Moving at the Speed of Hillyard.” Parade entrants can register that morning. Ribbons will be rewarded for the best entries, with the children' entries being judged by COPS NE. After the parade, the “Hot Rods in Hillyard” stage on Market St for a car show in the Hillyard business district while the festivities continue in Harmon Park.
Continuous live entertainment by the region's most talented musicians is scheduled to change on the hour from Noon to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. This year's Saturday headliners include Sammy Eubanks and Britney Comrie, up-and-coming Nashville star and Spokane native. Sunday entertainment begins with an open denominational church service and gospel music at 10 a.m., and continues until the official closing of the Festival at 5 p.m. The Hillyard Festival booth and the stage will post the performers and schedule.
