Flags to fly half-staff Saturday

Spokane Mayor David Condon has directed that Washington State and United States flags at all City facilities be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, May 9 in memory of Coeur d’Alene Police Sergeant Greg Moore, whose funeral service is scheduled for Saturday.

“The Spokane community is deeply saddened by the passing of Sgt. Moore,” said Condon. “It is our duty to remember and uphold Sgt. Moore’s sacrifice in nobly serving his community. We stand with the City and Police Department of Coeur d’Alene as well as the entire Inland Northwest community to mourn and honor this fallen hero.”

The Mayor’s Office will allow agencies to lower flags for the duration of the day Saturday. Flags may also be lowered as soon as the end of business hours today (Friday).

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.

The memorial for Stg. Moore is open to the public. Services will be held Saturday, May 9 at 10 a.m. at Lake City High School (6101 N. Ramsey Road) in Coeur d’Alene. Representatives from the City of Spokane including Spokane Police Department command staff will be attending as well as numerous officers on and off duty.
