The staff assistant to Office of the Police Ombudsman will leave the office later this month, and plans are being made to ensure the intake function continues uninterrupted.

The City is working to have someone in place following her departure on May 20 to conduct complaint intake and keep the office open on a limited basis while a new ombudsman is selected. A selection committee is evaluating dozens of applications for the ombudsman position and, per Spokane Municipal Code, will forward three recommendations to the commission. The application deadline closes on May 15.

Citizen complaints can be submitted online at SPDombudsman.org, via mail or in person. Any complaints received during the transition period will continue to be processed.
