Council Member Kate Burke is calling all youth, parents, administrators, legislators, and community members to come to the East Central Community Center located at 500 S. Stone St. on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss and listen to the youth of Spokane.

Council Member Burke wants to address a gap in services for young adults. She has expressed concern for kids who are living on the streets, going through the juvenile justice system, struggling to get an education, fighting addiction, or dealing with an unhealthy home life.

“Everyone says our youth are the future. While that is absolutely true, they are also suffering right now,” said Council Member Burke. “We have kids living on the street or are in unhealthy situations because our systems have failed them at this very moment. They are at a crossroads in their lives and we need to do everything we can to support. It is our community’s responsibility to listen to them and create policies and services that will help them succeed.”

Please come to the Youth Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the East Central Community Center (500 S Stone St.) to join the conversation of how we can better support our youth.
