Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward has directed that all flags at City facilities be lowered to half-staff to coincide with Governor Jay Inslee’s directive that state and U.S. flags at all state agency facilities be lowered in remembrance of Clallam County Fire District 3 Captain Charles “Chad” Cate.

“The loved ones of Captain Cate and his fire department colleagues are in our thoughts and prayers,” said Mayor Woodward. “We encourage anyone with a flag outside of their home or business to join us in honoring him.”

Flags can be lowered at the close of business on Friday, Jan. 20. They should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on Saturday, Jan. 21, or the morning of Monday, Jan. 23.

A memorial service for Captain Cate will take place on Saturday, Jan. 21, 12:30 p.m., at Sequim High School.
