Mayor Lisa Brown and Chief Financial Officer Tonya Wallace have mutually agreed to the CFO’s resignation from the City of Spokane. CFO Wallace intends to step away from the role on January 15, but will assist with the transition as needed in the coming months.

"I am proud of the many great accomplishments of the team of professionals, dedicated leaders, and staff within the Division of Finance and Administration that will continue to serve and support the City’s numerous departments. It was a great privilege to work with them and many others in the community,” Wallace said.

Mayor Brown has appointed Matt Boston to fill the vacancy. Boston has a background in public accounting, with a focus on government and not-for-profit organizations. He has served as the Budget and Finance Director for the City of Spokane since 2021. He also worked as the Budget Manager at Eastern Washington University and remains an instructor in the MBA program.

“Balancing our budget is among my top priorities and I am confident that Matt Boston is the person for the job. His financial experience, strategic foresight, and leadership will be beneficial in my administration’s work to invest in the people of Spokane,” Mayor Brown said.

“I’m honored to be working with Mayor Brown. I look forward to continuing to serve the City of Spokane. I will be focused on collaboration and finding innovative solutions to the budgetary challenges Spokane has faced the past few years,” Boston said.
