Spokane Public Library will host weekly Water Wise Workshops in collaboration with the City of Spokane Water Department every Wednesday in March and April at 6pm at Shadle Park Library.
“Water consumption in our community increases by 300% in the summer season and the majority of that water is used on landscapes. This huge increase also comes at a time when the Spokane River needs the water it receives from our aquifer the most,” said City of Spokane Water Conservation Program Manager, Kristen Zimmer. “Water Wise Spokane is hosting a series of workshops so you can learn sustainable landscaping principles to ensure the future availability of one of our most precious resources – and save money at the same time!”
The following topics will be discussed at Water Wise Wednesday workshops. Note that the last workshop on April 24th will be at Liberty Park Library. All workshops begin at 6pm.
March 6: Intro to SpokaneScape Design
March 13: Mulching, Edging & Laying Hardscape
March 20: Firewise for City Dwellers
March 27: DIY Drip Irrigation
April 3: All About Composting
April 10: Intergrated Pest Management
April 17: Pesticide & Herbicide Application
April 24: Native Plants, Keystone Species & More (Liberty Park Library)
These are free, public events and no registration is required.
