North Freya Street to Close for Water Main Replacement

City of Spokane will begin a major construction project to replace a 30-inch water main along N. Freya St. in northeast Spokane on Monday, March 10. Work on the street between E. Garland Ave. and E. Wellesley Ave. will include reconstructing the roadway, improving sidewalks, and installing stormwater management features. The goal is to enhance water distribution reliability and support future development. The project is expected to last through the summer. What to Expect:

  • Drivers traveling south on N. Freya St. will detour west at E. Wellesley Ave. to Haven St. and continue southbound to N. Market St. to E. Euclid Ave. and reconnect with N. Freya St.
  • Drivers traveling north on N. Freya St. will detour west at E. Euclid Ave. to N. Market St. and continue northbound to E. Wellesley Ave. and reconnect with N. Freya St.
  • Drivers should slow down, be alert, and follow designated detour signs.
  • Businesses and the U.S. Post Office in the area will have local access.
  • Entrance to Esmeralda Golf Course will be accessible on N. Freya St. via E. Euclid Ave. / E. Frederick Ave.
