Millions in state funding are headed to Spokane to advance key local priorities, including public safety enhancements, housing, behavioral health and substance use disorder services, and community development.

“This funding is critically important for the City of Spokane. It will help us make meaningful progress on the issues our residents care about most,” Mayor Lisa Brown said. “I’m grateful to our state legislators for advocating for our community's needs and delivering on needed investments amid a challenging budget situation."

“I want to express my appreciation to my fellow council members, the administration, dedicated staff, and the efforts of our lobbyists and legislators for helping to fund our city’s most critical priorities,” said Council President Betsy Wilkerson. “More specifically, together, we have secured funding for the overdue police training academy and the necessary sound mitigation study for East Central along the I-90 corridor. The support and insights from everyone have been crucial in making this progress possible. Together, we are building a safer future for our city.”
