City of Spokane has launched a community climate policy survey as part of the next phase of the City of Spokane Climate Planning efforts which will work on future goals and policies that guide local action to mitigate, adapt to, and address climate hazards. Your feedback now will help inform future steps to build a resilient Spokane.
The survey is open through Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, and ready for your feedback on what types of policies you want to see. Results from this survey will influence policies that will ultimately be integrated into the PlanSpokane 2046 Periodic Update to the Comprehensive Plan, directing future actions and decisions by City staff and leaders. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Marshallese.
“We are seeking community feedback because climate change affects us all. We want to hear from people in every one of Spokane’s 29 neighborhoods and understand your priorities as we plan for a more resilient future." said Mayor Lisa Brown.
Earlier this year, the community was asked to provide insights into their experiences and opinions of climate challenges, such as wildfires and extreme heat. Over 1,500 community members shared their stories and contributed to the creation of the City of Spokane Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. This technical report integrated those diverse perspectives and lived experiences with expansive data to identify local climate risks and vulnerabilities.
The City of Spokane Climate Planning project is funded by a state grant. The WA Department of Commerce climate planning grant is supported with funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act (CCA). The CCA supports Washington’s climate action efforts by putting cap-and-invest dollars to work reducing climate pollution, creating jobs, and improving public health. Information about the CCA is available on their website.
