The City of Spokane has launched a "Know Your Rights” webpage for local immigrant and refugee communities.
The new webpage includes critical information about the constitutional rights and protections of all people in the United States, regardless of immigration status. Red cards, which outline how people can exercise these rights, are available in nearly 20 languages.
Those accessing the new site will also find a variety of community resources, partner agencies, and information on how to access legal assistance.
“Our city is stronger because of the diversity of people who call Spokane home,” Mayor Lisa Brown said. “This new website is just one way we are working to ensure that everyone, no matter where they come from, has access to the support they need to feel safe.”
“This effort is about dignity and inclusion,” said Jerrall Haynes, Director of the Office of Civil Rights, Equity, and Inclusion. “We want every resident in Spokane to feel supported and empowered to exercise their rights.”
