The City of Spokane has issued a notice of funding availability, seeking applications for Culturally Specific Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder grants. These grants are available to organizations to support the prevention, treatment. and recovery of individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD) or individuals at risk of developing OUD.

Despite similar rates of overdose use disorder across races, marginalized communities face disparities in OUD outcomes due to unequal access, barriers to accessing care, and program design. The City of Spokane’s goal for this grant program is to support the planning and launch of culturally specific, evidence-based behavioral health treatment to ensure treatment options provide everyone with the same opportunity for success, stabilization, and recovery. The proposal may also invest in prevention for historically marginalized communities. The total funding available is $500,000.

An optional workshop providing technical assistance will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 1 to 2 p.m. It will be available both virtually and in person at the Central Library, Event Room B. To RSVP, email aeverano@spokanecity.org.

Applications are due by Monday, Dec. 15, at 1 p.m.

Funding will be awarded through a formal procurement process via the City of Spokane’s online Procurement Opportunities portal.
