Spokane Mayor David Condon issued the following statement about Spokane’s Promise Zone application:
“A great network of resources and relationships has emerged and grown stronger through the Promise Zone application process. The need to provide a better, more holistic set of educational, training, employment, social and housing resources remains, and the lessons learned through the process will carry forward. While we are disappointed that northeast Spokane was not selected, we also celebrate that the Spokane Tribe of Indians was successful in bringing a Promise Zone designation to our region. Our commitment to the collaboration of more than 100 partners and their investment of time, ideas and energy to creating new opportunities in northeast Spokane remains unwavering.”
