Spokane Mayor David Condon has ordered city flags to be flown at half-staff today in remembrance of Pearl Harbor Day and issued the following statement:
“Today, for the 75th time, the country salutes the more than 2,400 Americans who lost their lives and the more than 1,000 service members who were wounded in the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was a devastating day for the country that forged a strength and resolve our nation had never seen before. The resulting unity wrote a new chapter in our nation’s great history and set the standard for how a country or even a community should rally in support of each other during even the darkest of tragedies. As Spokane honors and remembers Pearl Harbor service members and families we will also use the day as a reminder that together we are stronger.”
