Mayor Lisa Brown issued the following statement ahead of Pride weekend:
“As we head into the weekend, I want to wish everyone a joyful and safe Pride. Pride was born out of protest, and it stands as a powerful reminder of the importance of visibility, equality, and the right of every person to express themselves freely.
“Everyone deserves the ability to exercise their First Amendment rights – whether that is though celebration, protest, or peaceful assembly. Year after year, Spokane Pride is a safe, welcoming event and that is exactly what we are planning for again this year.
“Happy Pride to all who are celebrating.”
