Mayor David Condon and the City of Spokane Human Rights Commission are seeking nominations for the first Spokane Human Rights Award. This award recognizes the contributions and achievements of one Spokane area individual, youth (under 21) and organization for their efforts to advance human rights in the City.

The HRC is to promote and secure mutual understanding and respect among all people regardless of race, gender, religion, ancestry, sexual orientation, age, disability, etc. For more information on the HRC, contact Melissa Nystrom at 509.625.6742 or eracoshrc@spokanecity.org.

All nominations must be submitted by Nov. 29 to be considered.

Applications may be submitted electronically to eracoshrc@spokanecity.org or by mail. Nominations submitted via mail should be typed or printed legibly to be considered. Mailed packets can be sent to:

The award ceremony will take place Thursday, Dec. 12 at 8 a.m. in the Chase Gallery (lower level) in Spokane’s City Hall. A light breakfast will be provided by Transition New Leaf Bakery.
