Mayor David Condon signed a 2014 budget today that aligns services to citizen priorities and is affordable to the community.
Highlights include adding 25 new police officers and restoring fire response capability at Station 9 by adding four new positions. The budget also includes money for capital equipment, such as emergency response vehicles.
While signing the budget, the mayor praised members of the City Council for their work to pass the budget more than a month prior to the deadline.
Citizens provide input throughout the summer and fall during numerous public meetings, block parties and conversations over coffee. They provided clear direction and expectations that helped to shape the final budget.
