Spokane named Outstanding Runner Friendly Community

Spokane is getting lots of national recognition these days. Last month, it was for bike-friendliness and now, the city has been named 2014's Outstanding Runner Friendly Community.

The Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) cites Spokane's system of over 87 parks, including Riverfront Park with its iconic steel runners, Bloomsday (one of the largest road races in the country), and the city's trails and natural areas that cater to runners.

The Bloomsday Road Runners Club nominated Spokane for the award. The RRCA will officially honor the City of Spokane as its 2014 Outstanding Runner Friendly Community award at the RRCA National Convention in Des Moines, Iowa this April.
