What a fabulous first-ever Spokane Citizen Hall of Fame event! Nominees and guests packed into the Davenport Hotel’s Grand Pennington Ballroom Thursday for the inaugural Citizen Hall of Fame Awards Breakfast.

The yearly awards are all about recognizing individuals in our community, both living and deceased, who have helped build the City of Choice. The Citizen Hall of Fame honored living inductees for significant contributions in one of six categories and, at the same time, provided an opportunity to raise funds for the Spokane Public Library's business and entrepreneurial services.

All the inductees were and are leaders and innovators in the fields of art, science, economic development, business, education, recreation and leisure. Their ideas, passion and energy helped shape Spokane. All because they had a vision, a lasting vision that still defines our community today.

I couldn’t be more proud of our great city, and of the first members of Spokane’s Citizen Hall of Fame.
