In five days, Spokane Gives Week returns to kick off nine days of connecting volunteers to community needs.

It all starts Saturday, April 25 with Cleaning from the Core. Hundreds of volunteers will work Downtown, in Riverfront Park, and along the river to get our community ready to host hundreds of thousands of guests this spring and summer for events such as Bloomsday and Hoopfest.

Spokane Gives is all about service to others and encouraging volunteerism and giving year-round. It's as easy as matching your passion to a need. Maybe your life has been touched by someone with cancer or autism. You can help the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the Northwest Autism Center, which are both looking for volunteers. Or, maybe your passion is helping animals find a good home. SCRAPS is looking for a hand with several projects around its new shelter.

Whatever interests you, there are numerous opportunities to lend a hand. Go to VolunteerSpokane.org and see how you can make a difference and help make Spokane the most compassionate community in America.
