After 20 years of discussion, two of Spokane’s most popular trails will be connected this summer - Ben Burr and the Centennial Trail. Ben Burr Trail will expand northward from Liberty Park to the Centennial Trail.
The connection will run along the west side of the Perry Street underpass of I90. There it will cross Second Avenue and continue north along Erie Street, passing Sprague Avenue and the BNSF Railway with preexisting underpasses until the trail reaches Front Avenue. The remaining trail will run along the south bank of the river and connect with the University District campuses.
Ben Burr Trail will also feature a connection from Liberty Park to Third Avenue and Sherman Street. Here the trail will be behind the sidewalk to provide safety from the traffic.
All of Ben Burr Trail will be paved to make it accessible to everyone! In addition, security lighting will be installed periodically throughout the trail.
