Three finalists have been selected for consideration as the next Spokane Police Department chief.
James Dermody of Seattle, Robert Lehner of Elk Grove, Calif. and Dominic Rizzi, Jr. of Yakima, Wash. will be in Spokane for interviews on Wednesday, July 20, including a public reception at 4:30 pm and interview beginning at 5:30 pm, both at the West Central Community Center.
Police Advisory Committee Chair Joan Butler will facilitate the public interview session. Questions for the candidates can be submitted in advance to policechiefsearch@spokanecity.org or in writing at the public interview.
Each of the candidates has undergone a screening process that includes review of their application materials, supplemental questionnaires, video interviews and background checks by search firm Strategic Government Resources and an 11-member selection committee.
Members of four panels will interview the finalists prior to the public reception and forum. The interviews will focus on community policing, leadership, community engagement, and business operations and finance.
