Developing a North Bank Plan

A vibrant riverfront is taking shape on Spokane’s North Bank! New buildings, businesses, and development interests highlight the North Bank’s potential to be a major growth center for downtown. Exciting projects like the Riverfront Park redevelopment, the Wonder Building, and the Sportsplex are happening! This new energy highlights the need to revisit our community vision and policy for the North Bank area.

Currently, proposed developments face some decades old regulations intended to promote river bank views, but hinder public goals for a safe, vibrant, and healthy city. The complexity of existing regulations addressing the height and design of development proposals affects the future character of the North Bank.

Moving forward, the North Bank Plan will focus on the vision and strategies to guide new development, ensuring a unique and vibrant North Bank for future generations. Planning for the North Bank will be a coordinated community effort of stakeholders, neighborhoods, key public representatives, and technical staff from partner agencies. There will be many different opportunities for the community to engage in the planning process. To learn more about this project and how to get involved, visit the North Bank project page!
