The public engagement process took another step forward July 30–31 when City of Spokane planners and consultants from MAKERS Architecture & Urban Design hosted four workshops for community members representing businesses, education facilities, health care industries, neighborhoods and nonprofit organizations, as well as a Community Design Workshop on the evening of July 30. At each meeting, the project team gathered feedback on different options for development standards for the South U‑District area located south of the BNSF railroad tracks to I‑90 and east of Division to the Hamilton interchange.
The next step is to compile the feedback from the workshops and survey into a summary which will be published later this month. Planners will then use this information to develop a draft vision, goals, and policies for future development in the South U‑District area. This draft will be unveiled at a meeting with stakeholders and interested members of the public on October 2.
We look forward to sharing the first round of public feedback with you later in August!
