Happy WheelShare Safety Week! You are invited to participate in WheelShare Safety Week, Aug. 19 through 23, in downtown Spokane. A variety of fun safety and education activities are planned throughout the week in partnership with Lime and the Downtown Spokane Partnership.

On Wednesday, Aug. 21, we are hosting another Scoot Spokane First Ride Academy. First time Lime users can take the class and learn where to ride and park vehicles before enjoying a group ride through Riverfront Park to Kendall Yards. After riders get experience using the scooters and bikes at the First Ride Academy, they may find it easier to access destinations throughout downtown with the shared bikes and scooters. Attendees will meet at the Riverfront Park Visitor’s Center at 6 p.m. and will be eligible for a free helmet!

Throughout WheelShare Safety Week, you will see teams from the City of Spokane and the Downtown Spokane Partnership painting “Walk Your Wheels” messages on corners of downtown sidewalks. These messages will serve as a reminder that downtown sidewalks are for pedestrians.

Wrap up the week with WheelShare Day on Wall Street, Friday Aug. 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. between Main and Riverside avenues. City staff will install the first shared mobility “Parking Zone” on Wall Street and provide visitors with resources on recommended routes and rules of the road. Lime will host a Scooter Demo!
