Updated November 13, 2019: The final day of operation was moved up from Sunday, November 24 to Sunday, November 17.
With winter weather approaching, the last day of 2019 operation for the City of Spokane’s WheelShare program, operated by Lime, will be Sunday, November 17. The program will re-launch again by March 15, 2020.
Leading up to that date, Lime will gradually reduce the numbers of shared scooters and bicycles on City streets, with remaining vehicles concentrated in areas with the highest demand, such as neighborhood business districts and downtown. All vehicles will be removed completely following the final day of operation on Sunday November 17.
Since the shared mobility program launched, Spokane residents and visitors rode the scooters and bicycles more than 581,000 times for a total of 643,000 miles!
People riding the scooters reported a wide range of trip purposes, including traveling to work, shopping, connecting with public transit, reaching entertainment and dining destinations, recreation, and accessing resources and services.
We’ve had lots of success leveraging partnerships to improve the WheelShare experience this year. Local partnerships included promotion of the Lime Access Equity program, distribution of free helmets at events throughout the City, free safety classes, and the launch of the Lime Patrol, a team of Lime staff dedicated to promoting safe riding and parking of the Lime vehicles.
The City of Spokane and Lime look forward to partnering again in 2020 to continue offering the WheelShare program as an option for getting around Spokane.
