Have you ever thought about working for the City of Spokane? Our 2000 employees do things like help make your garbage disappear, treat waste water and maintain our beautiful parks and golf courses.

However, the only way to get hired for one of the city’s full-time positions is to take a civil service test.

And now, we’re making it easier for you to apply by taking our testing program on the road.

“That’s because would be applicants have told us, they’ve had trouble showing up for testing because they can’t take time off from their existing job,” explained Kathleen Myers of the city’s Civil Service Department.

So now, the City of Spokane is offering civil service testing on the weekends, at easy-to-park places, like North Central High School.

The City of Spokane offers some of the most generous medical and retirement benefits in the region and, we promote our employees from within the organization.

Consider the career path of a guy named Garrett Jones.

“Started working as an intern maintaining our beautiful parks and 13 years later, and a lot of hard work, in different positions, I’m the director of the entire parks system,” Jones said with a smile.

You could actually end up working for Jones because one of the positions we are testing for in July, is a park caretaker.

The City of Spokane is also testing for radio operators and meter readers in our Water Department. The city is also hoping to hire laborers, custodians and refuse collectors.

“The most important thing you need to know about these job opportunities is to jump on line and apply today. Don’t miss your chance to build your career at the City of Spokane,” urged Myers.

Apply online between June 18, 2021 to July 13, 2021. You will be able to apply for multiple positions at the same time!

Note: This is not a Spokane Public Schools sanctioned or sponsored event/activity.
