The City of Spokane is partnering with commercial composter Barr-Tech on a Compost Giveaway program! This spring current and new subscribers to the “Clean Green” yard and food waste collection program can receive a free half-yard of finished compost from participating vendors as an incentive to divert more organics from the waste stream by using the green cart.
All current and new subscribers to the City of Spokane’s Yard and Food Waste program (Clean Green Cart) can take advantage of this offer. This is a special promotion sponsored by Barr-Tech, the commercial composting facility that takes all of Spokane County’s organic waste. The offer runs Feb. 1 through June 30, 2022. Vouchers must be downloaded and compost must be picked up from vendors by Thursday, June 30.
To take advantage of this offer, current Clean Green subscribers can submit a request for the free compost. You will be asked for an address on the website. Once your subscription status is confirmed, you will be emailed a downloadable voucher to print and redeem at participating vendors. You will also be provided with a list of the vendors where you can pick up your half-yard of free compost. You must redeem your voucher at one of those participating businesses by Thursday, June 30.
Not a current subscriber? Call 3-1-1 to order this addition to your service. The cost is $18.31 per month for collection service that runs March through November. Green carts aren’t just for yard waste! Food scraps and most food-soiled paper are also accepted in the carts and go to Barr-Tech to be composted into a valuable soil amendment.
