Celebrate MLK Day

The City invites the community to join some of the many celebrations of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Spokane.

Here are details for several MLK Day events in the Spokane area:

  • Saturday, Jan. 13, 12 – 2 p.m. – Road Rally Scavenger Hunt, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, 500 S. Stone Street.
  • Sunday, Jan. 14, 3 – 5 p.m. – MLK Service, Holy Temple Church of God in Christ, 806 W. Indiana Avenue.
  • Monday, Jan. 15, 10 – 11:30 a.m. – MLK Day Rally and March, Spokane Convention Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Boulevard.
  • Monday, Jan. 15, 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. – MLK Day Resource Fair, Spokane Convention Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Boulevard.
  • Monday, Jan. 15, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Black History 101 Mobile Museum, Spokane Convention Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Boulevard.
  • Monday, Jan. 15, 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. – MLK Day of Service: Empowerment Through Action Conference & Workshop, Spokane Convention Center, Centennial Ballroom – 300 BCD, 334 W. Spokane Falls Boulevard.
  •  Tuesday, Jan. 16, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. – MLK Teach In – Black History 101 Mobile Museum, Gonzaga University, Hemmingson Center, 702 E. Desmet Avenue.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 16, 12 – 1 p.m. – MLK Service, Gonzaga University, College Hall, 3rd floor Chapel, 502 E Boone Avenue.
  • Thursday, Jan. 18, 6 – 7:30 p.m. – Race Reconciliation Film Screening & Dialogue, Hemmingson Center, 702 E Desmet Avenue.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is the only federal holiday that is also designated as a national day of service – “A Day On, Not a Day Off.” To sign up for volunteer and service opportunities, go to www.volunteerspokane.org.

Spokane City Hall, Spokane Municipal Court, and Spokane Public Library branches are closed on Monday, Jan. 15, in recognition of MLK Day.
