We’re inviting residents to join the 2024 Master Composter/Recycler class. This six-week course educates residents on how to reduce waste through home composting and recycling. This is an in-person program, free of charge, with weekly meetings and extended learning opportunities. Classes are held at the Water Treatment Center at 1004 N. Freya St. The Spring Compost Fair will be at Finch Arboretum.

The 2024 Master Composter/Recycler class schedule includes:

  • Monday March 25, 5:30pm-8:00pm
  • Monday April 8, 5:30pm-8:00pm

  • Optional continuous education bonus class (with potluck) Monday May 6, 5:30pm-7:00pm

There are two components to the Master Composter/Recycler program – training and volunteering.

The training involves six classes taught by Master Composter/Recyclers Partner Non-Profits, and Spokane County Regional Solid Waste System employees. The volunteering occurs after program completion. Participants commit to volunteering a minimum of 40 hours in the first-year post-graduation to share their knowledge with others.
