This month’s video features West Central. Recently, West Central neighbors joined efforts to clean-up their neighborhood with funds made available from ONS for beautification projects. This is one of the benefits of being a part of a neighborhood council.

Outdoor summer activities are in full force! With the 50-year anniversary celebration of Expo ‘74 continuing through July 4, activities include the Echoes of Expo audio storytelling experience; a Community Stage and Vendor Village days on Saturdays, June 1, 8, 15, and 22; and Silent Disco also on June 22. Plus, enjoy all of the Riverfront Park attractions like the Skate Ribbon, Carrousel, Skyride, Skate Park, Lightshow at the Pavilion on weekends, and more. Come and check it out!

Nothing is better than fresh produce from a local Farmers Market and Spokane is home to many that are worth checking out, like the Emerson Garfield Market on Friday nights, Hillyard Farmers’ Market on Mondays, Kendall Yards Night Market on Wednesdays, the Spokane Farmers Market in Coeur d’Alene Park on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and South Perry Market on Thursdays. Most run through October.

Construction and street sweeping also comes with warm weather. Remember to slow down, follow detours and allow for extra time to get to your destination. Stay up to date on construction projects in your neighborhood by visiting our website and clicking on the construction icon.

While many neighborhood councils don’t hold recurring monthly meetings in the summer, there are still opportunities to engage with them through concerts, clean-up events, block parties, and movie nights. Visit the neighborhood calendar or reach out to your neighborhood council officers to find upcoming events. Contact information, meeting times and locations, and other details can be found on the Spokane Neighborhoods page.

And sign up for the ONS Monthly News You Can Use monthly newsletter!

Remember you don’t have to move to live in a better neighborhood!
