This April, as part of Spokane Gives and Sound the Alarm, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) is partnering with the American Red Cross to install free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in high fire risk homes that need them in the City of Spokane.
Since the Red Cross launched its Home Fire Campaign in 2014, SFD has partnered with the American Red Cross and their volunteers to eliminate barriers by installing free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, in alignment with national standards, in low-income homes in Spokane. This spring will mark our seventeenth joint event, where we spend a Saturday visiting 500 homes offering to install free alarms and providing free fire safety information. Since 2014, we’ve visited over 8,000 homes in Spokane. Connecting with families one-on-one, sharing preparedness information, and empowering families to act quickly in the event of a home fire.
This event is made possible by support from community volunteers from: State Farm, Yokes, Spokane Area Rotaries, Washington State University, Leadership Spokane, and our partnership with American Red Cross.
