The City of Spokane is offering property owners a FREE solar-powered, motion-detecting residential light! The Spokane Safe and Bright Residential Light program aims to help residents illuminate commonly dark areas in their neighborhoods, such as alleys, sidewalks, and public walking spaces.
To apply for your free residential light, you must own a residential property within the City of Spokane limits. You can access the application in your 311 Spokane account – the account you use to pay your utility bill – to request a voucher. Once your application is approved, you will receive an email from My311@spokanecity.org containing your residential light ID information. Take this info with you to City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd., to pick up your residential light. IDs will be checked at pickup, and after receiving your light, you will be responsible for its installation.
Installing these free residential lights is a great way to increase visibility and proactively reduce crime. We recommend installing your light in an alleyway, sidewalk, or public walking area.
These lights will be available until the program funding is depleted. For more information on the Spokane Safe and Bright Residential Light program, please visit the program website.
