In this issue, we discuss Council Members in action for February, the Parking Tax Public Rule, and committee updates.
Recent and upcoming City Council committee meetings:
- Public Safety and Community Health Committee – Last meeting, Mar. 2: Chief Hall and Chief Williams gave reports on police and fire departments. The Downtown Spokane Partnership updated on the work of the Safe and Healthy Task Force. Next meeting: Mar. 30
- Public Infrastructure, Environment, & Sustainability Committee – Last meeting, Feb. 9: Public Works and Transportation & Sustainability Directors gave their monthly reports and staff presented on the city biosolids program, recycling updates, and 6-Year Streets Plan. Next meeting: Mar. 9
- Urban Experience Committee – Last meeting, Cancelled: Urban Experience for February was cancelled. Agenda items were sent to Finance & Administration on Feb. 23. Next meeting: Mar. 16
- Finance & Administration Committee – Last meeting, Feb. 23: Monthly building permit report, updates on the FIFA World Cup fan zones, and introduction of an ordinance encouraging the activation of public spaces. Next meeting: Mar. 23
Upcoming Ordinances & Resolutions
- Festival Streets Update: Council Members Klitzke and Zappone have been working with local business groups on mitigating some of their concerns with festival street closures. This is scheduled for a vote on March 23.
- Parking Tax Public Rule: The Brown Administration has developed the public rule for the parking tax passed last December. You can read the draft rule on p. 128. This is scheduled for a vote to adopt on March 23.
