Cycle 13 Safe Streets for All Traffic Calming

Project Number: 2025046

Status: Design

Project Timeline

Construction Start Date: Estimated spring/summer 2026

Construction Completion Date: Estimated fall 2026

Project Description

The goal of the Spokane Safe Streets for All (Traffic Calming) program is to make our City neighborhoods more livable and safe for all users. Traffic calming is a self-enforcing traffic management approach that seeks to force motorists to alter their speed or direction of travel. The purpose of traffic calming is to improve safety, especially for pedestrians and bicyclists, and to improve the environment or “livability” of streets for residents and visitors. By reducing speed, the number and severity of accidents can be greatly diminished.

The projects will be spread across the three Council Districts.

Key Objectives

  • Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety: Pedestrian hybrid beacons, rapid flashing beacons, sidewalks, or bicycle lanes.
  • Reducing Traffic Speeds: Install curb bumpouts or speed humps.

Construction Estimate: $2,875,000
