Overview

This project rehabilitates portions of Sprague Avenue and Alki-Broadway Avenue with a 2-inch grind and overlay. It also includes ADA ramp upgrades and selected stormwater improvements, extending pavement life and enhancing road safety.

Project Scope

The main activities within this project include:

  • Grind & Overlay: 2-inch surface renewal from Freya to Havana, excluding major intersections.
  • Full-Depth Pavement Repair: At severely damaged sections, including the eastbound curb lane on Sprague and sections along Alki-Broadway.
  • ADA Ramp Upgrades: Install compliant ramps where needed.
  • Stormwater Modifications: Replace catch basins and laterals as recommended by the Wastewater Department.
  • Traffic Signal Modifications: Limited upgrades at Sprague/Havana; add piano-key crosswalk striping.

Funding

  • Total Project Cost: $3,768,000
  • Sources: Federal NHS Asset Management, Local Arterial Street Fund match

Community Impact

Roadway improvements will enhance safety and ride quality with minimal disruptions. Detours and temporary lane closures will be in place as needed.

Environmental & Regulatory Compliance

The project follows NEPA requirements; additional stormwater or related permits may be required based on ground disturbance.
