Project Number: 2023119

Status: Design

Overview

This pavement preservation project applies a chip seal along Wellesley Avenue from Maple Street to Division Street. Additional work includes crack sealing, minor pavement repairs, and limited ADA ramp installations to maintain and extend the roadway’s service life.

Location

Wellesley Avenue between Maple and Division Street

Project Timeline

  • Design Completion: End of 2024
  • Construction Completion: Summer 2025

Key Objectives

  • Pavement Preservation: Use chip seal to protect existing asphalt and prevent further deterioration.
  • Crack Sealing & Repairs: Address cracks and localized damage.
  • ADA Compliance: Add ADA ramps as needed (small scope anticipated).

Project Scope

The main activities within this project include:

  • Chip Seal Application: Cover approximately 1.1 miles (4.4 lane miles) of Wellesley Avenue.
  • Pavement Repairs: Full-depth pothole and pavement failure repairs.
  • Crack Sealing: Prevent water infiltration and further asphalt damage.
  • ADA Ramps: Install compliant curb ramps where required.

Funding

  • Total Project Cost: $577,000
  • Sources: Federal STBG, Local Arterial Street Fund match

Community Impact

By preserving pavement now, the City avoids more expensive rehabilitation later. Temporary lane closures will be used during construction, but the project will be staged to minimize disruptions.

Environmental & Regulatory Compliance

NEPA compliance is required; tree pruning or minimal environmental permits may be needed, though no major environmental issues are anticipated.
