Thanks to a community benefit grant from Providence Health Care, an inclusive play space for people of all abilities and ages is being built on the west end of Havermale Island in Riverfront Park.
With designs donated by Shane's Inspiration, an organization specializing in creating inclusive play spaces, the new playground features play elements for children of all abilities. The space will include sensory-rich areas for play, as well as quiet spaces for relaxing and exploring.

NOTE: A redevelopment bond funded Ice Age Floods themed playground is also under construction on the North Bank of Riverfront. Learn more about it here.
Other improvements on West Havermale will include renovation of the Expo '74 Theme Stream, a signature art piece from Artist Meejin Yoon, a maintenance yard, and parking improvements.
