Narrative: On Thursday, May 28th at 9:52 p.m. Spokane Fire Department Companies responded to a reported garage fire at 1823 East Providence. Engine 15 from the Hillyard neighborhood was just reporting in service from a nearby car wreck and was able to respond within 2 minutes to the scene. Captain Kline from Engine 15 reported a single car detached garage with heavy fire involvement. Engine 15’s crew quickly attacked the fire and completed a primary search of the garage confirming no occupants were inside. The other Fire Companies assisted with the fire attack, water supply, overhaul and checking for extension. The fire was declared knocked down within 10 minutes. No injuries were reported by Civilians or Fire fighters.

Cause: The Special Investigation Unit has determined that the fire was caused by smoking material left next to combustibles.

Damage: The involved garage wall was destroyed by the fire along with the contents in the proximity. The garage also suffered minor fire damage to the roof and smoke damage throughout.
