Fire damages Hillyard basement

Fire damaged an unoccupied Hillyard house early Friday morning causing approximately $10,000 in damage to the basement. No one was injured.

Narrative: The Spokane Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 804 East Joseph at 4:51 a.m. today. Smoke was coming from the boarded up home when firefighters arrived. The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes, and confined to the basement. No one was in the house, and no one was injured.

Cause: The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time by the Spokane Fire Department Special Investigation Unit

Damage: Fire damage was confined to the basement with smoke damage throughout the structure.
