No one injured in afternoon fire

The Spokane Fire Department is investigating the cause of an afternoon fire that caused extensive damage to a north side home. No one was injured and damage was estimated at $30,000.
A passerby was spraying water from a garden hose onto the fire when firefighters arrived at the home 4823 N. Washington St. a little after 12:35 pm. Smoke and flames were coming from the front of the house.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and confined fire damage to the front room. The remainder of the house suffered extensive smoke damage.
