East Central Garage Fire

At 7:43 PM Friday evening (12/22/17) the SFD responded to a simultaneous structure fire in the 2900 block of East Central Avenue. The first company arrived within four-minutes and reported heavy fire involvement of a detached two-car garage. Due to the large amount of fire present, additional fire department resources were added to support the operation. Companies successfully contained the fire to the garage within fifteen minutes and prevented any extension to nearby property and structures.

The nature of the fire is accidental and cause was wood stacked too close to a wood-stove. Financial loss was estimated at $100,00 inclusive of the structure and two vehicles.
