At 12:30 pm on April 29, 2020, units from the Spokane Fire Department were dispatched to a reported fire on the interior of an apartment located in the 1500 block of West Mission Ave.
Upon arrival Firefighters found that neighbors had assisted with evacuating the occupant from the ground floor apartment of the structure. Fire crews located a small fire involving the mattress and carpeting inside the apartment. The fire was rapidly extinguished and the burnt items were removed to the exterior of the residence.
?The apartment suffered minor fire damage but the smoke produced by the fire rendered the unit uninhabitable. The occupant was treated for smoke inhalation and transported by AMR ambulance to a local medical facility for evaluation. The Red Cross was contacted and responded to assist the displaced occupant. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Spokane Fire Department Special Investigations Unit.
