At 630 pm on July 10 2020, units from the Spokane Fire Department and Fire District 8 were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire located in the 4100 block of South Bellegrove Ln.
Upon arrival, Firefighters found neighbors applying water with a garden hose to exterior of the home. Fire crews located a fire in the in exterior wall that had made its way to the attic and partially burned through the roof. Firefighters were able to quickly gain access and extinguish the fire.
In addition to the roof damage the remainder of the home suffered minor smoke and fire damage. Fire Crews were able to save the majority of the structural components and contents of the home. The total value of the building and contents is estimated to be over $500,000. The occupants were not at home but arrived shortly after Firefighters had extinguished the blaze.
The Spokane Fire Department Special Investigations Unit determined that the cause of the fire was from an electric attic exhaust fan. No one was injured in the fire.
