At approximately 5 AM on Sunday, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) received a 911 call reporting smoke and fire coming from a former Pizza Hut building located at 227 West 3rd Avenue. Fire companies responded and were on the scene within 5-minutes of being dispatched. First-arriving companies reported heavy smoke coming from the entire structure with a working fire in the rear of the building. The building was reportedly unoccupied and boarded-up at the time of the fire.

Initial companies were able to make entry into the structure and located the main body of fire in the attic while also searching and ventilating the building. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes after our arrival.

The SFD saved the majority of the structural components of the building. The total value of the building and contents saved is estimated at over $400,000. The fire is being investigated by the SFD Special Investigations Unit. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians as a result of this incident.
