Shortly before 3 AM on July 28th, units of the Spokane Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 2300 block of W 3rd Ave in Brownes Addition.

First-arriving units found a well-involved, small storage building, with fire impinging on a single-car detached garage, and threatening a nearby apartment building. Crews rapidly knocked down the fire in the storage unit and garage while additional crews entered the apartment building to ensure the fire had not extended. Fire attack was complicated due to arcing and downed power lines in the area of the burning structure.

There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The storage building and contents were a total loss, while the garage sustained minor exterior damage. ?

This incident is under investigation by the Spokane Fire Department Special Investigations Unit.
