At approximately 10:00 AM, Friday, Nov. 6, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) was dispatched to a reported "structure fire" in the 2700-block of East Pacific Ave.

SFD crews arrived quickly to find flames from several windows extending into the attic and a neighboring house. Spokane firefighters worked quickly to coordinate an aggressive fire attack by deploying hose lines for extinguishment, prioritizing an interior search for possible victims, and performing ventilation to remove smoke and heated gases.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the main body of fire in approximately 15 minutes. Crews worked on opening up walls and ceiling areas to expose any hidden fire and conducted a thorough search of the structure to confirm that all civilians were safely out of the structure. One civilian was treated at the scene but not hospitalized.

A total of 27 firefighters from 6 Engine companies and 2 Ladder companies fought the fire. Spokane Valley Fire Department assisted with operations at the fire. One firefighter sought treatment at an urgent-care for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Spokane Fire Department Special Investigations Unit.
