At 11:20 pm on the night of February 2, 2022, a garage was reported to be on fire behind the residence. Crews were on scene within 3 minutes and found that the garage was fully involved in fire. Several power lines were down in the yard, posing hazards to crews and a trailer within close proximity to the garage and the home.
At the height of the fire, several hose-lines were utilized to get the fire under control and protect the surrounding structures. The trailer was searched and found to be empty, and several dogs were removed from the yard and placed safely into the house.
Once the flames were brought under control, the structural roof members were heavily damaged, which required the crews to stay out for concern that the garage would collapse. A fire watch was posted, and an SFD investigator remained on the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
Crews worked quickly to get control of the fire, and no civilians, firefighters, or dogs, were injured. The cause is still undetermined and is under investigation.
